VFX Artist

Responsibilities: 

• Design, create, and implement real-time VFX (environmental, character, gameplay, cinematic) that enhance gameplay and storytelling.

• Develop procedural assets and simulations in Houdini to generate scalable, reusable, and optimized effects.

• Ensure VFX are high-performing and optimized for Unreal Engine across multiple hardware targets.

• Debug, profile, and improve performance of VFX systems in Unreal Engine.

• Stay up to date with the latest VFX tools, trends, and techniques in real-time rendering.

Required Skills:

• 5+ years of professional experience creating real-time VFX for games or interactive media.

• Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of high-quality real-time effects.

• Expert knowledge of Houdini for procedural workflows, simulations (smoke, fire, destruction, fluids, etc.), and asset creation.

• Proven experience with Unreal Engine’s Niagara, Cascade, Materials, Blueprints, and profiling tools.

• Deep understanding of VFX optimization techniques (LODs, shader complexity, GPU budgets, draw calls, etc.).

• Strong artistic eye for timing, scale, motion, and color.

• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams (design, tech art, engineering).

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with shader authoring in Unreal.

• Background in film/animation VFX pipelines.
